4 tracks spread over 2 heavy duty 7″ singles, all wrapped up in some typically gorgeous (and somewhat rather darker) sleeve artwork that’s been once again sorted out by massive attacks 3d.
the 4 tracks in case you weren’t aware, are all lifted from the forthcoming new unkle album, war stories.
now, i have to come clean. i love the whole feel of unkle releases. i totally understand that the band is effectively james lavelle utilising his extended contacts book, but somehow his exercises in polished up dance music (of whatever variety that’s currently taking james fancy) always seem to find their way into the playlist.
interestingly this release looks to be the first time unkle have finally dropped old mowax logo, as despite the label being in hiding for many years, all the releases from the previous album, the wonderful never, never land, had the logo placed delicately somewhere. whereas from here on it appears that unkle are now on a new label – no surrender.
so, that’s the packaging, and the label, what about the music ? well, as its vinyl, i have only had a quick once over of the various tracks, and it sounds like the album is going to be a cracker, consisting of moody dark low slung grooves, with rock music shapes, and a ton of guests from the underbelly of the industry, including queens of the stone age josh homme, liela moss from the duke spirit, autolux along with the debut appearance of the vocals of james lavelle himself.
natually, such a beautiful and desireable item is limited, to get your skates on and snap this up.
