as has been mentioned previously, ireallylovemusic hq has been shaken to the core of its soul in recent times by the earth shattering foetus revival that is currently going down, deep deep down.
now, the story of how a young innocent discovered such darkly humourous music when living in the outback of the yorkshire dales in the mid 80s, is not that interesting. however, the pursuit thereafter to track down the mans prolific output pre-internet was quite a task, meaning that i never really got anything that was regarded as rare (though the cd copies of original albums seem to be extremely well priced .. ahem).
so when it came to digging into the archives for slightly more off the beaten tracks featuring the well documented past of jim thirlwell, i remembered the mans involvement with raymond watts aka <pig>.
this then lead me to dig out the original cd copy of praise the lard album that is so similar in style to the classic foetus sound its either an insult or a massive homage to the man with its wonderfully manic orchestrations, genre hopping funkiness, and unsubtle lyrical fun.
so, today i decided to find out a little more about the relationship between the two, and lo, following a google session, i came to find out that raymond constantly throws the respect in the direction of jim, and more amazingly the foetus-pig collaboration sick city that brilliantly closes the album was, due to general label chaos, left off the recent re-issue of said album. thus meaning that the track is somewhat rare.
so, if you have never heard any of the classic scraping foetus off the wheel trilogy, hole, nail, thaw, and believe industrial music to only involve chugga chugga priocessed guitars a la ministry, then prepare to be knocked out, its a blast of huge twisted disco big band noise.
