pama international : i still love you more/equality & dub for all

one of the first things i noticed upon my arrival back to normality after my recent snow bound adventure was a parcel in the shape of a 7″ single on the door mat.

turns out to be number 266 of 300 of the latest 7″ from the ever impressive dub-soul collective pama international.

having already release 2 singles from their recent album, pama outernational, the latest entry in these limited editions is an eye catching green.

obviously, to go with the other red and yellow editions : in line with the label/logo.

once the eyes had readjusted, it became apparent i was going to have to track down one of those old adaptors that are sometimes required to play jukebox 7″ singles.

a few hours later, and the solitary plastic adaptor in ireallylovemusic hq was found (suitably embedded within a promo 7″ by madness).

thankfully, such demands were paid off by the music once the spinning machine was cranked into gear.

both tracks feature on the recent album, but the versions here are somewhat different.

i still love you more (bongolian version) is a more upfront soul version worthy of love and attention from people who regret the lack of a 60s soul tour revue, whereas, equality and dub for all is as the name implies an old school dubbed up to the max version by wrongtom.

now, seeing as my love of pama international was set into motion by the man known as wrongtom, i think you can figure out my opinion on this track.

you see, for a few years now, there have been rumours of a full dub album version of pama international material to be sorted out by wrongtom.

so far, the only fruits of such labours have been a track here (this 7″), and a track there (the recent hi-rise mini-album : review), but i continue live in hope that more of these team ups will see the light of day.

given that there are only 300 of these suckers available, and the band are to spend 2010 gaining love from their us based operation (the new album has been given a stateside release), nuggets as cool as this are going to be in demand all that more, meaning i suggest you sign up and get skanking.

sharpish.
