following on from my recent extraction of a rare earl brutus track, i delved in further and remembered this nugget by mixtape supremo, cherrystones, aka gareth goddard.
it wasn’t that long ago (or at least it doesn’t feel that long), that cherrystones was the go-to guy for a genre defying set of tunes whether that involved hungarian psych excess, or outer space freaks.
subsequently, alongside his promo only mixtapes that became gold dust, there were two official compilations released that hit the spot for yours truly : hidden charms on david holmes imprint 13 amp, and cherrystone rocks.
when there was word that he was making music of his own, i became rather keen to hear the results.
so far little has been released, but hidden away on a twisted nerve compilation back in 2003, was this little gem given an airing.
dirty jazz drums, fuzzed up bassline, and a manic intensity of spooked out weirdness make me hope that the full length is still on its way.
if you happen to know more, then by all means contact via the usual methods.
