i love the ireallylovemusic archive.
it’s so vast and disorganised that there are corners in which i have rarely explored, so today while doing odds and sods, i chanced upon an old nme freebie cd which i don’t think i ever once actually listened to.
given that the cd contains live material by such bands as travis, stereophonics, and theaudience, i think you can understand why it was buried deep.
then in the corner of my eye as the cd was flung across the room, i noticed in the tracklisting the mighty earl brutus.
given that i have mentioned the bands brilliance on several occasions, i wont go any further than to say, this track was recorded january 18th 1998 at the astoria theatre as part of the ‘nme clean sweep’ campaign, and clearly proves that in their live fucked up incarnation, there was nothing like nick saunderson (r.i.p) and his motley gang.
