all day i have been hammering various 12"/eps/albums that have been recently released, or are about to be released on the ninja tune label, or their sister label, big dada.
i can’t deny that in 2008 my passion for the labels somewhat fell to one side, i didn’t connect with several of the high profile releases that the labels put out, making me feel as if it was the end of the road for our music based love-in.
thankfully, things are about to change, and here are the reasons why :
– diplo : decent work for decent pay – compilation of remixes and exclusive new tracks.
– the qemists : dem na like me (feat. wiley) – 8 track remix package with such people as king cannibal, elektrons, and a1 bassline giving the lads rocked up d-n-b various makeovers.
– thunderheist : sweet 16 – dirty electro hip hop that’s going to make a lot of vice magazine readers happy.
– the qemists : join the q – the debut album.
each and every one of the above has totally hit the spot today, much to my surprise (hard edged drum-n-bass getting love from ireallylovemusic !).
the pleasure fix was probably helped by the fact i had ireallylovemusic hq to myself, meaning i could give the grooves the bass level thump these productions need.
reviews of all the above as and when, but lets just say, today was a good day.
seems like someone at the label has decided to go for the jugular, and provide record buyers (well me at least) with some welcome adrenalin rushes.
