melnyk makes electronic pop music.
often the results are very special indeed.
i loved his debut album, silence, more than just about anything back in 2007, and the guest packed followup revolutions has been on a constant rotation since it was given a limited cd release a few months ago.
so i am rather pleased to tell you that melnyk, alongside his gaymonkey records label boss sara berg, have collaborated and created a superb version of that kate bush classic, running up the hill, for the buffetlibre 2 cover versions website.
the synths throb and sound all retro-futuristic disco-tastic, and sara gives the song an updated edge.
as to be expected, the combination of a genuine 80s classic and melnyk makes for a perfect match, click the link and realise yourself why popjustice have been all over this slice of brilliance like a hack attack.
not only that, but word on the virtual street is that gaymonkeys records are having a credit crunching sale in which back catalogue releases are a mere fiver, and newer stuff, a couple of pounds more. which seeing as all the high profile tastemakers are pronouncing ’09 as the year electro-pop will break through, you really should do yourself a favour and catch up as everything i have heard on the label has been worthy of love and attention.
