remember my blast of chaos before the golden silence ?
well imagine my joy when upon checking my overloaded postbox when returning to ireallylovemusic hq when i find out that this pointer has resulted in the label/pr people sending me more of their offerings.
so far it’s all about :
black daniel – hard times on the way
the aforementioned bands debut album. it’s al-reet you know, not a patch on the mighty earl brutus, but a good solid crush collision of electronic beats and glitterband guitars. proper review to be sorted out later on.
black daniel – say hello : medicine8/plimsouls remixes
from medicine8s last official foray into the release schedule when the noisy dance crew remixed kylie, the lads have emerged like the phoenix from the ashes to remix new upcoming band, black daniel. well, sort of. you see, it’s the same people in the studio just fucking around with pseudos making sure you don’t forget as to who we are dealing with (ie to drive home the fact that medicine8 were making this dirty electro groove thing way back in the early noughties). subsequently, the medicine8 remix takes a nice lazy sunday morning album track and pumps it with saturday night adrenalin, dance floor filling 4-by-4 beats, nagging cut up vocals, and a big fat old school sleeping bag records styled synth line. whereas, the plimsouls keep some of the originals’ ambience and just morph the mood ever so slightly, giving this listener flashback to the harder parts of the beloved back catalogue resulting in a wonderful trance synth pop song involving a sneering vocal and a lovely piano closing section.
gentlemen’s agreement presents stretch carter
no idea as to this names behind this 3 track 12" at all other than its good stuff to kick start the ireallylovemusic return to the world of qwerty.
the track, the rabbit, comes in 3 flavours, the excellent original, label mates heavily distressed synthetic cassette jam remix, and another by some bloke called guy williams who makes the bassline and beats bounce all over the place in a brilliantly throbbing techno-bleep style.
basically, across the three mixes, the listener is provided with : dance infused edgy pop techno, a darker moodier spin on deep and dirty electro, and a spine shaking bleep happy trance floor filler.
so with these three records currently swamping out the ireallylovemusic playlist, i suggest you add the label website to your bookmark list and keep an eye and ear out as things could become rather interesting.
