sarah nixey – le temps de l’amour

following on from last years excellent album, sing, memory, sarah returns to the fun of 2008 with a brand nice new single for all fans of classic french pop.

taking an old françois hardy track, and updating the low slung sonics for fans of sultry smoky electropop she sounds perfectly in sync with the current love for all things mouse click orientated with a delicate understated production as opposed to big high sweeping drama. flip the record and she has delved deeper into the euro scene with a new previously unreleased french version of when i’m here with you, making this a perfect addition to anyones celebration of all things eurovision.

also, alongside this short but sweet new record, comes the digital release of some remixes of when i’m here with you. now, i’ve been reliably informed that sarah has something of a gay following, so the dr octavo nocturnal remixes are going make a lot of people happy. anthemic happy trance-house, wave-your-hands-in-the-air gay disco, the sort of over the top dance pop that pet shop boys excel at but with sarahs seductive ‘la la la la’s placed amongst the cheese filled synths – a guaranteed saturday night floor filler.

other remixes include the more cutting edge magnus projection remix with nods towards the whole ed banger distorted acid electro, whereas miss kubelik takes the original on a widescreen downtempo trip for the perfect party closer to perfectly counteract the glitterball beats, bringing out the serenity, and romance of the song in a beautiful style.

all in all, a fine set of dancefloor destined remixes, and some new joy to be had from one of pops best voices.
