sunny day sets fire – end of the road

look i’m a fickle arse, i know that.
one minute i’m all over the deepest techno, the next its onto a forgotten hip hop legend, but recently the guitar world and ireallylovemusic have not been the best of friends.
regular watchers will have spotted that i have been open in my distaste for the current state of the guitar based music, but something about this debut 7″ from these well connected folks (remixes by diplo on the way according to one blog out there) has really hit home, much to my surprise.
the lead track, end of the road, could easily be dismissed as generic indie pop, but the easy bouncy melodies and jangling guitars are so full of an unexpected sense of joie de livre that after a few listens any such cynicism is swept under the carpet, and by the time the song ends you are digging out those old smiths records to relive those days of youthful innocence and heartache.
ok, i’m not going to make any rash statements on the evidence of 2 tracks (b-side lack of view  is a more laid back, but just as wonderful affair), but damn, this record is really good.
lets just hope the bands album keeps up this level of excellence.
