so, for the first time in many years, i have a gloriously mad weekend up in my old haunt leeds.
as part of the celebration, i drop in on the ever reliable jumbo records to clear out some mental ghosts (oh to have a proper record shop like that in bristol !), and return to the keyboard 2 days later with a cheshire cat grin.
the mood is then built upon with an unexpected email from steve elvidge.
steve e.
mob orator.
age of chance.
(no details required – surely you know where to look to find out more on the mans involvement with my favouruite band by now ?)
anyway, it seems that on the quiet, steve has been getting back to basics with his music making urge, so he’s cracked open a few choice samples and loops and is generally having a good time in a way that skint records should be interested. while the track is not going to be breaking down the doors of originality, it’s great to hear funked up loops-n-samples, after all, who can resist that vocal?
currently there are 4 tracks on the oh so necessary myspace hang out, but ireallylovemusic is dropping this on the wire cos it’s a lot of fun and helps relieve the inner turmoil that will surface when i realise that it will be far far too long before i will be able to head back up north.
