paul leonard-morgan – filmtales

its autumn.
the days are shorter, the temperature dropped, and so the mood has changed.
with this in mind, those banging feel good hip hop mixtapes no longer feel right, so its a perfect time to dig out that warm and cosy downtempo orchestral music that reflects the change in ambient colours.
if you ahven’t got any such album, then fear not, as paul leonard-morgan has got just the trick for you.
heres the list of the various components involved :
hip hop beats. orchestral arrangements. instrumentals. epic. composer. award winning tv soundtracks.
with guest vocals by such folks as isobel campbell, steve mason (ex-beta band), and jenna g adding a little more of an edge to an otherwise soundtrack album.
the results of course break no new ground, but do provide a very special air of calm and beauty.
however, its painfully clear that the album is not to break paul into the mainstream and make him a name on the radio playlist, but to provide a showcase for his rather impressive production/arrangement skills and therefore help him break into the lucrative hollywood soundtrack biz.
you see, across the albums 11 tracks, every typical movie mood is catered for
– the moody sultry late night jazz slo-mo scene : opener wilderness,
the dramatic opening credit sequence or the emotional tear jerker scene : seen from the outside
– the extended james bond chase sequence : the twanged up brilliance of like a bullet through the head
– the slow build up prior to the kiss : all for you (featuriung esther)
reflective and mellow : the  piano beauty of sienna, (that admittedly strays a little too close to that piece everyone knows from american beauty but still manages to send a chill up the spine)
etc etc.
the music is gorgeously played, and will make for a perfect dinner party album, just that i suspect i wont be the only one filing it next to my craig armstrong albums with whom paul has worked previously and this album just reiterates the hollywood future is very clearly marked out for paul, and on the strength of this album, i look forward to seeing his name on the big screen.
