having crafted one of last years best remixes, (coldcut – walk a mile in my shoes), and stunned the cool crowds with his dj sets, henrik gets to release a high profile album on the excellent k7! records label. comprised of various chunks of his live set recorded all over the world, the disc has anything but a cut-n-paste feel to it. instead the 16 tracks flow and blend together perfectly making for 73 minutes of sublime variants of the music that is electronic house. sometimes the mood is ultra cool minimal, the superb where we at,, whereas in other places, the groove steps out of the minimal area, and goes for the deep house vibe, with the mix having scope for even allowing a jazz riff here and acid house section there. i mean the space jazz hero that is sun ra gets to have an appearance in the opening section of the mix, and jazzed up horns with blistering tribal beats give it their all during the intense mang meat, while the bleak but beautiful acid overload of henriks own jimis does little other than throb, but in all the right directions, yet deeper in, the funk master himself, james brown, is dropped into the set, albeit in a electro-fied remixed form of course. whereas a lot of these blogshere white hot names produce music that is aimed at a particular, often insular, scene, it is wonderful to hear that henrik has put together a very very listenable, varied, hip shaking mix, that will sound brilliant when you are idling away your life waiting for that elusive number 78 bus.
