adem – launch yourself (hot chip remix)

recently the playlist has been giving me trouble, i was getting somewhat despondent.
then out of the blue i received an email from adem asking if i would like to check out the new fridge album, the sun.
suddenly all felt good and my inner drive was reinstated.
fridge, in case you dont know, released several albums a few years ago for such labels as output, go beat! and their own label, text records, before going on an extended holiday.
during this holiday period, band member kieran hebden scoured the inner circuits of his (and a few that probably didn’t belong to him) laptop under the constantly working four tetadem went and fell in love with the beauty of a simple acoustic based song releasing gorgeous albums like last years love and other planets. and according to the press release, sam jeffers learnt stuff at a fancy college.
now, i can’t profess to be a long term listener or fan of fridge, but i have a lot of interesting records with four tet involvement, as well as loving the aforementioned adem record.
natually this offer to hear the results of this long awaited return was met with delight, so to celebrate, ireallylovemusic dug into the archives and found the hot chip remix of adems classic, launch yourself.
a beautifully serene piece of layered harmonies and delicate perfect pop melodies, on which hot chip added a few of their trademark electronic touches to the proceedings, giving the song a very laid back electro pop feel.
