sarah nixey – black hit of space

tagged on the end of sarahs debut solo album, sing, memory, this dark electronic pop cover version is a deliciously prickly track.
no doubt human league fans will recoil in abject horror at the thought of this song being covered, but as i have never heard the original, i rate the dark mood atmosphere, the cold production and the emotionally distant vocals as one of the album highlights. the cd single package is fleshed out with a new ambient version of previous single, strangelove, rebranded as slowlove, and a magnus projection remix of the lead track in which the mood is lifted for the dancefloor masses, slightly. there is more of a rhythmic bounce, but the foundation still retains the bleak electro minimalism that makes the so called normal version so addictive.
the video was made award winning andreas horvath so it’s definitely worth a few minutes of your time.
