while the album never really did much for me (the voice just grates),
i just got around to watching the dvd that came with the limited version of the album.
expecting the usual 20 minutes of home video lo-fi rubbish of studio mucking about, i was pleasantly surprised to end up watching a full on budget busting film !

each track has a video with a period costumed theme to it.
my fave has to be the mad hairdo’d rollerdisco excess for ‘spectacle’ starring carrie fisher no less, and the swashbuckling section for the opening track ‘dead meat’ where sean gets skewered by a big greasy baddie in a battle to the death over honour, then there is the one where he kisses a fish, and even touches of xanadu with dayglo’d up flying saucers. excessive madness.
it must have cost a fortune, and given away for free with a few thousand copies of the album that probably most never even bothered to watch .. it’s probably the best freebie dvd ever given away with an album.

well worth tracking down, especially as this makes you listen to the album a little more, and you know, it’s a pleasant grower of an album which can be lazily summarised thus :
downtempo, melancholy pop music sung by a son of a beatle.
