last week when i went through my nu-gaze revival period, one name i kept seeing in various places was maps.
today i get an email advising of release details for the ‘bands’ debut album, we can create (due out may 14th via mute records).
well i say band, however, the music is all made by just the one bloke called james chapman.
that’s kind of weird, but then add in the fact that the music is all made without any interaction with a computer and you begin to realise the man should be commited, or heralded as a new dawn.
computers have become such a normal part of the process that it’s rather unusual, and refreshing, to hear such detailed layered music (and thats just his myspace tracks !) that haven’t gone anywhere near protools.
i have to say, this is one album i am rather looking forward to hearing.
check out the drawn out epic in chemistry for your headfuck fix of the day.
there is of course, the tour with the longcut to spread the word far and wide.
