not only has friend to the stars, mark ronson, recently produced the majority of the well received amy winehouse album, and various guest productions all over the place last year, jay z’s choice party dj in 2007 gets back into the solo artist groove with the forthcoming release of his second album, version.
the album seems to have some kind of backstory behind it, as mark has taken some old faves and rejigged them into fresh new bouncing shapes that revive old school 60s soul sounds for the new world, meaning that the end results are going to be quite interesting given that he has even revisited an old smiths track, stop me if you’ve heard this one before!
however, as the album is not out until mid-april the record label are jumping on his current high media profile, and releasing a limited 10″ single which includes odb muttering all manner of strangeness over the top of marks twisted horn filled revisit of britneys pop smash toxic, a strange marriage thats for sure.
the single is out 29th january and will no doubt be a hot one to track down, so here’s a quick nudge so you don’t get lost in the rush.
