following on from that last post about 70s rock-n-roll. i decided to get back into the new world.
so here’s another nice exclusive.
i have in my hands the forthcoming sarah nixey album – sing, memory
the cover is very red, with the declaration ‘through the glitter and the grandeur, there’s life in the cabaret’ positioned above the title of the album.
a good sign – you can never have to much pretension in pop i think.
here’s the tracklisting :
sing (prelude)
when i’m here with you
beautiful oblivion
strangelove (sing version)
hotel room
nothing on earth
nightshift
memory (prelude)
the collector
breathe in, fade out
endless circles
the man i knew
masquerade
love and exile
and
the black hit of space
and reading the small print i think that the last track is a cover of an early human league track.
having spun the album now a few times today, i can say this is exactly what i was wanting.
if you liked the spiked electro drama of the singles then side 1 (the first half) of the album will not dissapoint, whereas if you prefer relaxed mellow electro-moods, then the second half is going to be your ideal destination.
yes – this is a conceptual pop album with ideas beyond the norm, anyone would think paul morley (ztt records) was somehow involved.
oh, hang on….
proper review in the fullness of time.
