years before the jaw dropping 6 album interscope record deal, the blogged up politics, and cartoons, akira the don was part of the media baiting collective known as crack village.
with his appearances on stage involving crucifixes and crowd scaring antics, and fellow band member, baby bo whipping up the indie boys into a sexual frenzy, it’s no wonder that the band were top of the scensters bill for a while.
however, history has taught us that the band were a stepping stone in adams life to his destiny, pop stardom.
thankfully, i managed to get my hands on an early crack village 12″ single, the subtly named deep penetration single. for all the seediness on the a-side, things were actually a lot more interesting on the flip. utilising a looped violin sample, plenty of old school scratch up madness, the easy melody makes for a very lazy relaxed vibe, matched by baby bo giving the sultry mood in the background.
i believe the band are still having a crack at the charts, and even released an album, but something tells me their chance has somewhat diminished.
