in the mid-late 80s, prior to my discovery of hip hop, and music made by machines.
the rest of the world was off discovering the lyrical intricacies of the smiths.
however, i took a different stance.
i still felt the need for a guitar based groove.
prior to the uprising of bands that are now part of the legend re the collision of beats and guitars that spawned the baggy era, there was slim pickings.
that said, there was one band that was up for grabs.
and you know what, all these years later, i have no regrets.
i still believe the woodentops to be a better band than the smiths.
