as i mentioned yesterday, ireallylovemusic hq is now home to a toy that makes it easy to convert scratchy unloved vinyl into sparkly mp3s.
ok, the quality is a mere 128kbps, but in such matters, beggars and choosers rarely care.
so, here’s the first treat, and what a beauty it is too.
released in 1990 by the duo sunsonic, this wonderful klf (well, “j.cauty” for all you pedants) remix was hidden away on a limited 12″ that i just happened to spot in the sales bin in my fave hang out in leeds, jumbo records.
despite invoking a personal lifelong obsession with the short lived band, the remix got little attention possibly due to the fact that no-one picked up on the bands brilliance : except yours truly of course.
even now the time stamped mix of dance floor threatening bass lines, 3am ambient moods (let’s not forget 1990 was the year in which the klf released their own ambient house classic, chill out), tribal vocals and ‘that’ slide guitar riff, never fails to provide that all important buzz factor.
