i realise it may be a little weird following on from recent posts, but old habits die hard, as does my love for ska.
so, when i heard the news that madness’s sax maestro, lee thompson, was forming a big ska band, the lee thompson ska orchestra, i was very keen to hear the results.
[i suspect lee could have been the main driving force behind doomed dangermen session project that madness tried out a few years back to total apathy]
the orchestra has performed live at various places in recent months, and things seem to be stepping up a gear.
the core people involved seems to be as follows :
steve roo rooney-drums
mark bedders -bass
kev’born ready boris’ burdett-guitar
louis vause-piano
seamus beaghen hammond organ
jack mitchell-trombone
steve turner- baratone sax
steve white- trumpet
terry edwards – alto sax
lee thompson-sax/vocals
having now checked out the orchestras latest studio recorded missive, i’m even more excited.
supposedly there is a full length album being planned, but in the meantime, just kick back, and enjoy this wonderful skanking update update of 60s classic, eastern standard time.
