abyss is the name that naples producer guispeppe morabtio works under, and having had a previous release on buzzin’ fly go down a storm (the double sided mind games/the dreamer 12″), it was only right that the label help the world find out more about this talented music maker.
the original version of birdsong kicks off the fun with an insistent dance floor beat, and then that piano riff starts and all hell breaks loose with the euphoric mood enhancing vibe building up and breaking down in all the right places.
what follows is 8 minutes of delicious melody, sunrise perfection and smiling faces set to a simple but effective groove that cannot fail but be a festival favourite should the weather allow.
this track alone would be sufficient to add this release to your want list, but there is of course more.
remixes by snoretex and fellow label folks, flowers and sea creatures take the track into new territories.
first up, snoretex (who you may know as sam wallis from the excellent allez allez blog, and part of kompakt faves, walls) pushes the cut-up factor to the fore with an extra edge of manic intensity before things settle down into a stripped back, sharp edged digital funk beast.
whereas flowers and sea creatures, (a band i really want to hear more from given that there own 12″ on buzzin’ fly is stilling getting love @ ireallylovemusic hq), head back to the glory years of ambient house and make listeners of a certain age want to lie back and be counted. adding layered synths, to the original hook and wrapping things up in a sublime setting. making the result highly recommended for anyone who has been patiently waiting for more material from global communication,.
all in all, yet another excellent release from buzzin’ fly.
