after weeks (nee months) of struggling to find any reason to listen to music with a beat, yesterday the world shifted back onto its axis, for how long, i cannot say.
basically, a kind soul on my twitter feed pointed me to the aordisco blog stuffed to the gills with some rather splendid re-edits and so the process began.
ok, now i realise the whole balearic re-edit scene is probably passé and no longer providing you with the thrills in the depths of winter, but the fact is the drawn out revisions of 70s rock-n-disco just sounded wonderfully inviting, giving my ears a warm and fuzzy glow.
so, with my head in the groove, i was then pointed in the direction of youtube to listen to the best re-edit of the season (2009 edition – ireallylovemusic is not that cutting edge) : agneta – wrap your arms around me (the villa edit)
8 glorious minutes later i was all mellowed out and chomping at the wire to track down a proper mp3 version given that a lot of this type of music never gets an official release, and sure enough, the track took some digging out.
released to the wire to celebrate the 20th ‘release’ by the mindless boogie re-edit label, agneta by villa, a mysterious belgian set up, is an drawn out sun drenched epic that takes the ex-abba survivor solo track into areas of unknown pleasures.
i really cannot think of a better way to start a wet-n-nasty winters day than soaking this glorious track up and letting your mind revisit sunnier climes.
