cher – i walk on gilded splinters

cher on ireallylovemusic !?!

well, yes.

you see there are certain folks who when they put out a themed compilation you just know you are in for a treat.

please step forward : david holmes, bill brewster, andy votel, and of course, cherrystones (and given recent discoveries, steve stanley @ now sounds seems to be someone whose name i will be keeping a close eye on)

these crate diggers travel the world rummaging in bargain bins full of scratched to f*ck vinyl, and from time to time finding nuggets of audio joy that would otherwise be left unloved, and in the process, they make life a lot better as i just don’t have any other route in to such pleasures.

so, over the years, any compilations associated with these genre busting heroes have been tracked down and loved in excelsis.

what this means is that given the groove @ ireallylovemusic is currently all about easy listening, lounge, northern soul, or psych/sunshine pop then quite often the beginning of the road to audio pleasure happens to be one of these compilations.

all of which is a long way of explaining how i have absolutely no claims on discovering this excellent gem of funked up psycho-soul by the sailor lovin’ cher, as the track was featured on the excellent hidden charms compilation put together by cherrystones, and released on 13 amp r.i.p  back in 2004, and is properly ace when you want something a little deep and funky.

enjoy.
