no idea as to who vikki carr is nor do i have any real insight as to what her impact on the world has been (other than a quick dip into the usual online resources), but the fact is that a few months ago i picked up a 2-fer-1 cd that has two of her albums, discovery & discovery ii, from 1964 that she recorded for capitol records and have found myself revisiting them a lot more than some would say is good for me.
both albums fall into the category of : swinging jazz band + orchestra + full on vocals.
admittedly while listening to the albums back to back, you can begin to feel a little battered around the head by the overload of vikkis vocal force and the power packed swing band backing, however, it can’t be denied that these albums contain some fantastically enjoyable tunes that lift the mood and put a smile on my face.
