i hate it when this happens.
this is the fourth release in the famous berlins club series.
now, does the fact i am loving the lean melodic techno grooves mean i have to complete the series and track down the previous 3 volumes ?
the fact is, ben klock has compiled his debut mix cd into a tight very enjoyable 70 minute listen, packed with specially commissioned exclusives thereby avoiding the usual, ‘why bother, there are mixes for free all over the place’ argument.
and given that his residency at the club with extended dj sets is stuff of legend, its no wonder the line up is as top drawer quality as it is.
stripped back clinical beats that pick up nicely as the mix progresses, random machine noise, gorgeous melodies, and the suspicion that the crummy office friendly ear plugs are not doing the low end productions any justice.
still, such limitations do not stop my enjoyment, nor do they prevent me from adding ‘i need to go to berlin and try and get into this club ! ‘ to the top of my musical related wish list, but i think we all know such dreams have a habit of remaining just that, a dream.
thankfully, i have this mix to make up for the disappointment.
