hell.o.
it is now 2010 and so a new journey begins.
first up, can i recommend you all rush out and get the new edition of the monthly rag, mojo.
now normally my copy arrives, i quickly scan through the reviews and then wait a few weeks before i delve in further, but this month, the free covermount is a mix cd, a monstrous psychedelic bubble exploding in your brain, compiled and put together by those psyched out proggers, amorphous androgynous.
with volume 1 of this mix series they schmoozed noel g from oasis into releasing their 22 minute epic retake on falling down, aa subsequently went onto releasing another 2 cd set of out-there freakiness (volume 2), and now it seems that the beatles saturated monthly are beginning to pick up on the groove and giving the ex-future londoners some genuine love.
the covermount cd is a 53 mix that flows rather well, with more of that typical artwork that the lads seem to be so full on with at the moment and full of beginners reference points for novices like yours truly.
highly recommended.
along with this mojo freebie, the first record of the year to arrive at ireallylovemusic hq was the heavy duty 12″ version of the new dj food release, the shape of things that hum (reviewed : here).
being the eternal optimist i am, i will take these 2 rather wonderful new additions to the current playlist as a positive omen for the next 12 months.
oh, and should you be interested in more lists that look over the last 10 years, can i point you in the direction of the newly launched stylus decades site.
if this special event site is anywhere near as worthy as the original stylus magazine, then it’s going to be an excellent way to kill an hour or two.
let the games begin.
