rednetic recordings

while most of the music industry would love to move to a purely digital set up, it’s great to see small labels bucking the trend and going off on a tangent and in some cases even resurrect formats previously thought to have died off.

in recent months, rednetic recordings have bought up the worlds stock of 3″ cd-rs and decided to revive this cracking little format and if it hadn’t been due to personal logistics issues i would have pointed you in the direction of this chunk of techno (various favours involved : ambient, jacking, detroit, bleep, minimal, electro etc) a while ago.

you see, as mentioned previously, my main stereo system is one stroppy little sod.

only 6 years old, and already getting it to register a cd-r is a task of mammoth proportions – meaning that many cd-rs just cannot be listened to.

well that is until i trek into the west wing, and rip said cd-r onto the main ireallylovemusic computer.

a compact system that has a vertically mounted cd drive as opposed to the standard horizontal configuration.

which, as i’m sure you can imagine, is not that happy when trying to load in 3″ cd-rs.

however, today, i persisted, and at an opportune moment, rearranged the system, meaning i am now in a position to check out the six releases that have been left unloved.

so, better late than never, here’s a deeply informed summary : they’re all rather good.

i will be dropping more detail over the next few days, possibly even in order of their catalogue numbers.

in the meantime, head over to the site and have a listen, as there is some quality machine noise currently available.
