many years ago before the blog was the main deal, i used to run the original ireallylovemusic site via 100s of crappy html pages.
it was a bit of a pain to look after, as the whole process was very manual and restrictive given my complete lack of web design skills.
hence the text only approach.
subsequently the whole navigation side to the site was an absolute arse, as i never really gave it much thought.
[and no, there was no in depth analysis over the whole anti-design approach as i have been asked – was all down to what i was able to do at the time]
sorry about that. well as of today, there is no more pain. it’s all gone.
the archive site is now stripped right back to the basics.
all the original reviews are still there and no links will be broken, i have just cleaned up the main page of all the unnecessary garbage.
of course, finding anything of relevance will be just as bloody awkward, but i would point out that such an approach is a direct continuation of how i store my records and cds.
random chaos.
a method i actually find very refreshing, as i never know what i will come across as i go a hunting for a particular cd when the urges hit.
you think you’re going to look through the dance section, only to chance upon something that clearly should have been filed away in the ambient, or even industrial section.
hey ho. such is life.
and now that the site is all cleaned up, i may even have a think about whether to start using the site again.
which is very weird given that i had basically signed it off to the virtual dumper.
and the soundtrack to all this much needed upheaval :
