seems a long long time ago since i was running around bristol in the attempt to pick up all three of the shaped bronze age fox singles.
amazingly i managed to do it, and they have been my pride and joy ever since.
of course all the tracks were to be released on the excellent compilation (copies of which are also available via svc records)that followed such game playing, but the simple fact of the matter is, they look like nothing else in the ireallylovemusic archive.
not only that, but for a all too brief a moment, it felt as if the band were to get some serious crossover action, with the nme showing some deserved love, and cash rich record labels literally throwing money in their direction to fund the recording of the bands debut album.
unfortunately, things weren’t meant to last, and as soon as the album was recorded, the band fell apart leaving the results to gather dust on the shelf.
well, that is until now.
it seems that svc records have returned from their self imposed hiatus, and struck a deal with the relevant people, and now the album is available for all to hear in glorious 320 mp3 form.
so, if you like your pop of a welcoming warm nature, with melodies and harmonies that make you smile and instrumentation that sidesteps the usual choices, then i suggest you give this now sadly defunct band a chance.
as the way of a tease, here’s the album title track.
