remember last week when i went on record for my love for sample filled music, and the fact that beyond the realms of dance and hip hop [clearly the whole underground mixtape and re-edit scene seems to be flipping the finger to the concerns of the ‘cease and desist’ culture and so it’s only indie rock that’s shying away from the joys of the sample] there seems to be a lack of sonic adventurism in ’09.
well it seems like the post hit a james brown chord as no sooner had that post hit the wire than ireallylovemusic received this interesting extra.
i’m not going to blow the cover of the person behind this track (it’s a proposed demo for a forthcoming solo album is all you’ll be getting out of me !), but the track is a compelling 5 minutes of spooky cinematic atmospherics, complete with a fascinating lawyer teasing voiceover giving the listener a sneaky insight into the darker corners of the world of film making.
clearly such a track will never see the light officially, and i’d be the first to admit that this is not exactly a happy soundtrack for a gloriously sunny monday morning, but hey, thems the breaks.
