every now and then a small start up label has to step up, face the realities of the world, and release a track that will put it on the map and make people sit up and take notice.
for their 14th release, fine art recordings, seem to be doing just that.
in putting together a set of tunes for the release of the forthcoming labels vinyl sampler, they approached henrik schwarz for a remix of one of the more unusual tracks in the labels catalogue.
the original yall yalla by shehazard (actually jens loden and natik awayez) is a 7 minute combination of chamber quartet orchestration, spanish guitars, and middle eastern vocals.
it’s a unusual track for a predominantly techno label to put out, due to lack of any actual drum loops, but its a a fascinating piece of music that deserves its time and space in anyones collection.
for the 9 minute remix, henrik has underpinned the beauty of the stripped back original with a gorgeous warm house groove that doesn’t detract from the melody at all, but actually adds more focus and undulating layers for the dancing hordes. as the track progresses, and extra elements are added, so does the sheer epic-ness, before things are reduced back to the minimal dance floor throb.
clearly this is a track that should bring a lot of attention to the label, and in so doing, henrik has provided a brilliant slice of disco-house.
highly recommended.
