"midlife crisis at glastonbury"

haha.

this was a phrase that someone entered into a search engine and for some reason ended up @ ireallylovemusic.

while i would never go as far to suggest that my adventure all those years ago in 2005 bordered on any type of midlife crisis, it amuses me that some techno-bot has deemed my write as one of relevance.

makes for a nice change to have that in the search texts as opposed to the usual stuff (age of chance, that petrol emotion and dr calculus being the main phrases, thus indicating that i am a destination for anyone interested in leftfield pop that was released by the ubiquitous virgin records in the mid-late 80s !).

after yesterdays excess, i have little to report today, other than while walking my youngest home from school in the glorious sunshine, i saw a bee.

a big fat buzzy buzzy bee doing its thing around a fragrant plant/bush ensemble.

a moment of joy given that bees are supposedly a rarity in this new world, and a sign that at last, spring is in the air.

so with that in mind, surely there is only one music of interest to match the onset of longer days and rays of sun : reggae.

oh yes.

for reasons far too mundane for a blog (think fopp, think clearance, think bargains galore), ireallylovemusic has been rattling to the sounds of late 60’s, and 70s reggae.

while i’m on record for my love of the mutant dub excesses of on-u sounds, i have never really delved into the reggae archives due to lack of knowledge, and fear of the sheer hugeness of the trojan records reissue campaign, but last week i dived in, and i think my life may never be the same again. it has been a truly wonderful experience having the house rumbling to the scratchy lo-fi skank while i go about my daily routine of family pleasing chores.

if this discovery of a music from a bygone era is a warning sign my own midlife crisis is on its way, then hey so be it, google bots, do your worst.

onwards
