spotify is ..

very nice.

i got myself signed a couple of days ago to the spotify service.

now, you may have picked on the fact i have no time for p2p torrent gubbins, but to be able to select a cd and have it streamed in high quality via a small easy to use application is a perfect way to check out new/old music.

so, upon signing up, i did a search for ricardo villalobos, and lo, i began to catch up on the mans history (much of his stuff only ever available on limited 12").

for a few hours it was great being able to take it easy to the twisted electronica of the minimal guru.

then yesterday i logged in only to find out my beloved search results were wiped out.

my heart sank.

was this going to become a muxtape type of situation ?

nahhhh .. just that the people behind the service are clearing out the catalogue of non-legit rubbish.

so, after a few minutes of pondering just what i wanted to listen to, i hit upon the idea, that at long last i had the chance to listen to the much vaunted classic, but supposedly very challenging, bitches brew by miles davis.

would it be available ?

damn right it is.

as is a huge proportion of his catalogue.

for years i have wanted to check out whether or not i would be able to withstand such manic off the wall psyche-jazz-funk chaos, and so never had the nerve to put my money on the counter.  well, due to spotify, i realised yesterday, i could quite easily succumb to the lure of the jazz groove.

so that set off a chain of thoughts : "what about those cannonball adderley albums that david axelrod produced that are only available digitally via $tateside records?

oh yes .. they are all there. damn, this could be quite a long session.

so, please bear with me, while i go all mellow yellow, and dig the jazz scene for a while.

oh, i have a few invites if you are interested in checking out the service.
