given that flykkillers debut album, experiments in violent light was my favourite album of 2007, it should come as no surprise to you that i was rather pleased to open this mornings email and find news that the bands second album, still untitled, is just about good to go.
so without further ado, here’s a teaser track/remix from the forthcoming album.
while last years gig indicated that stephen and pati were on a more traditional song orientated course, this track proves that the bands heart still lies in the world of dark electro-dance. i love the whole dubbed up electro thump that projects the track along, only to be sidetracked by the underlying bass line that has all the required slap that fell by the way side ever since level 42 called it quits.
apparently (ie. from the somewhat vague tagging of the file), this is actually a remix by fellow label mate, the novelist, so can’t advise as to how close to the original this is, but damn, i’m loving it. the not quite there vocals, the twitchy electronics, and the aforementioned bass, all add up to making the album top of my list for most-looked-forward-to-albums-of-2009.
