there’s no denying it, i love a simple record label logo, (ztt records, on-u sound, fax records, dust science = good clean logos that have featured heavily in my record collecting years on this planet) so this one is definitely on my radar from hereon, despite the fact that the label seems to be purely a purist vinyl/download only situation making it difficult for those of us who like our discs to be silver and shiny.
however, such concerns quickly evaporate after having checked out a couple of tracks/podcasts. it seems that the fine art recordings label are picking up where rekids seems to have left off in recent times (where is their two compilation ?) by releasing a delicious blend of electronic music and dance structure. there’s is even a clear crossover with rekids as some of the artists involved, eg. the omnipresent radio slave and toby tobias both appear to be happy to help out.
the latest releases, first one by jens loden and circuit breaker by onark, comprise of easy on the ear melodies and enjoyable technology based production.
the excellent throbbing remix of first one by the berlin based (where else !) lodeman being of particular note.
oh fuck it, let’s just use the word and get it over with : minimal.
while the ‘minimal’ heat has moved onto pastures new, it’s great to find a label that’s bucking the blogsphere trend, and is continuing to provide wonderful techno of a minimal nature to all those who still love this music.
