not sure if your rss feedreader picked up the metallica article that the quietus posted earlier in the week and you happened to read it ?
well if you did, count yourself lucky.
due to pressures from the bands heavy mob, the article was taken down.
needless to say such matters are rather mind boggling especially given that the write up on the quietus was a somewhat glowing appraisal of the bands forthcoming album.
all that is strange enough, but given the bands well known fractured relationship with the internet community such ham fisted reactions are not totally unexpected.
if the story ended there, then fair enough, the thing is, the tale of discomfort has morphed and grown into a media beast. various blogs (both music related, and non-music) have picked up the noise and kicked up a bit of virtual sandstorm giving the quietus site a higher profile than i think they ever expected.
thankfully, it seems that the good people @ the quietus are not cowering in the shadows and biting their nails in fear, but putting their take on the whole matter online.
game on.
now the only thing remaining is for the lawyers to demand ireallylovemusic clear their internet cache, because of course, like many others out there i would like to think, most people have absolutely no idea how to save an article on their hard drives for future prosperity, because that would be very very naughty.
almost as bad as all that illicit file sharing that the band were so keen to prevent all those years ago, and that went according to plan didn’t it ?
