cage the elephant – aint to rest for the wicked (wicked devil remix)

don’t you just love it when a band likes to show the world that there is more to their indie rock groove by dragging in some dub master and adding a reggae beat to their trad-rock creations ?

of course the tradition includes such original punk’d up folks as the clash, uk subs, and more recently, primal scream, the blink-and-you’ll-miss’em, the dead 60s, and of course the regular team ups between dj wrongtom and his pals, hard-fi.

while it’s easy to be snobbish, i cant deny that the results are often far more enjoyable than the source material, and this remix is a perfect example of one such a time.

cage the elephant are a blues’d up garage band with nods to the classic 70s rock era from america currently in the process of getting some love from the nme, so when this dropped in my inbox a while ago i typically ignored it and carried on listening to my $tateside collection.

however, today i was clearing out my email account, and this caught my attention during a break in the cloud. and what do you know, its mighty fine.

no idea as to who is actually behind the remix – but who cares, turn up the volume, open a window and pretend that we do have a summer going on.

nb : stay tuned for a pointer to a superb dj wrongtom mixtape.
