i genuinely think that back in the 90s, scott harding, aka scotty hard, made some of the best dirtiest sounding hip hop going.
his use of scratchy rock samples and depth charged bass made for an intense claustrophobic listen that often sounded plain wrong but somehow out of the fug the brilliance shone.
none more so when his studio skills were matched against the skunk infused grief by those two folks, jason furlow and seb laws, collectively known as new kingdom.
not to mention his own brilliant solo joint, kill dog-e, which was quietly released on the gothic hip hop label, wordsound, a set up that scott was obviously very involved with.
anyway, today word reached me that the man is not having it easy.
he was recently involved in a serious car accident, and so various folks have grouped together to try and help out scott financially given that over stateside, hospital treatment is for the rich and insured something that scott aint despite having credits on albums by some of the biggest names going.
not only that, but this weekend there is to be a benefit gig in brooklyn.
