having run the infamous skibunny club now for years and dj’d for many a hipster party, the people behind the venture, mark and tanya, have decided to become pop stars.
the basic track is a twee delicate insanely catchy pop single that will kick into your memory banks and not shift, in the same way that bloody whistling song by those swedes, peter bjorn and john did last year, though thankfully, this song is lot more enjoyable.
basically, it’s all about the aah oooh hook that carries the song, and the listener along on its journey of joyful innocence.
some easy reference points : an after party version of the go! team (the vocal breakdown that opens the remix is very much in line with them !) via some of creation records c86 styled indie pop.
the results are very nice and summery and could easily cross over to mass market success if given the chance.
flip the record, and there is an expansive remix by someone going by the name handomeboy technique who layers up the synthetic string section, and generally makes the track that little bit more chunky and funky, with some subtle electronics and beats, yet maintaining the core song structure.
good stuff.
