‘i’m not a thug, but i do know how to punch and run,
i’m not a thug but i know how to shoot a gun’
well that’s fine by me then.
and so goes the main hook for this excellent second single by genre busting well connected hip hop gang from philidelphia, plastic little, all of which is backed by the most addictive electro’d up loops and funky beats this side of the planet.
addictive aint the word.
trust me, if this happens to be dropped on any localised playlist you’ll have the chorus spinning around your head on a constant earworm for days.
unfortuantely the so called, so young remix aint all that.
over the course of four minutes the uptempo track takes a a stab at the spank rock/hollertronix (i suspect there are connections between them as per the various clues on the website) styled baltimore funk, and ends up stripping away the natural flow that makes the source so much more fun and listenable.
thankfully, the band have a classic logo with crappy lower case font and beatbox to bring them back in line, so i’m all over having that as my desktop.
if you like all that juddering electro naughtiness that amanda blank (who is a guest, thus backing up my sherlock holmes styled detective work) is rather sweet on, then hold tight, as i’m about to post the pink skull remix of the bands debut single, crambodia, in the next hype machine friendly post.
