its party season so of course we need some of the 80s classics given a nu-rave electro’d up makeover to finish off 2007. thankfully dutch dj, dj kid culture, has stepped up to the challenge and applied his particular brand to 3 such tracks. while none of them are particularly unique, nor breaking new ground, they are perfectly acceptable takes on the dirty electro sound thats hit the clubs and charts.
first up is the attached by the ultimate 80s boy band, duran duran, and their brilliant early days classic, girls on film. the remix maintains the tracks hooks and vibe, but adds all manner of synthetic extras focussed for the dancefloor. whether the people behind this release decide to update the original tabloid friendly saucy video remains to be seen, as that would surely make it a chart monster.
along with this, the 12″ has a reworked bleep filled version of talk talks, such a shame, which i suspect mark hollis will hate if he ever gets to hear this, as the remix is a million miles from the evocative beauty that talk talk were to become better known for. however, as the remix morphs into a full on acid electro blast, even i can’t deny the primal urge to dance to the fucker.
of course, to keep up to speed with the revised 80s groove, hang a left over to the inevitable myspace page.
