the recently released dark gothic rock dance album, war stories, by unkle still gets a regular spin @ ireallylovemusic hq. (as per reviewed : here) so i guess i should tell you about the new single, hold my hand. featuring the debut appearance of james lavelles vocals, its a doomy sludgefest of a track, that has been already picked up to soundtrack various tv adverts.
as to be expected, the single is in the usual range of formats, of which i happened to chance upon the beautifully packaged cd version. admittedly, the reasons to get the cd single are not that strong, as the 12″ version has the much in demand radioslave on remix duties, and i would like to bet it’s a corker. however, that particular treat is for the vinyl collectors only, as the cd package comprises of the album edit of hold my hand, new track heaven (feat. gavin clark), and the video for burn my shadow.
the new track is a 7 minute downtempo moody ambient piece that is to be used as part of the soundtrack to the forthcoming odyssey in rome film and is all rather lovely, but obvious as to why it wasn’t included on the album as the ambience is far too delicate
though thats not all !
the band have launched a new fully functional website with all manner of stuff to grab and read eg tour details, for those lucky enough to have the chance to catch this latest incarnation of the band.
