which according to the sleeve is also known as : “essential tracks from the mighty sound machine”
 
and just who am i to argue with such a declaration, as this is a storming 2 cd set from one of the current leaders of the so called sweden house mafia scene.
at only 22 years of age, i personally think he’s too bloody young to be crafting a mix of this calibre, especially as many of the highlights are self made productions or remixes in which steve has had a part to play.
while the first cd has a couple of bland, house by numbers tracks, though special mention must go out to lush and delicious umbrella track by steve and sebastian ingrosso which crafts spanish guitars to a thrusting string section and takes the holiday dancefloor groove to the max, the second cd of the set is pure, stripped back techno-based house music with some fantastically in yer face machine made music and makes the effort all the more worthwhile.
things really hit home with the dark pounding of get dumb by angello himself and a few of his mates, the tongue in cheek but still sinister vocal loop really drives the track on and on, when this is supplemented by the intense build up of the manic ironman by pryda, the mix just takes off, making perfect sense with its blend of old school acid house (hello larry heard !), to the more upfront electro noises of 2007, with even the appearance of steves own remix for the current swedish electro pop queen herself, robyn, albeit in a very remixed form that bears little relation to the chart topper.
as steve is currently hotter than july, and runs his own in demand size label, from which many of these tracks have been culled (hence the title of mix), you can be sure that this selection will keep your head bopping along as there is hardly a moment the pace lets up making this a fine mix to drop in the machine for when you need that extra lift.
