two singles released from the forthcoming new queens of the stone age gang album, era vulgaris.
as the ‘band’ have proven over the years, they are capable of making a glorious racket that can hit all the buttons, alongside making the allmightiest of noises that sometimes don’t.
these two self produced tracks do a little of both. i suspect that a little more exposure to the quagmire mess of production will reveal the tune, but of these the weirdly named 3’s and 7’s is the more enjoyable as sick, sick, sick tries to repeat the formula of excessively fuzzed up guitars-n-bass with a simple hookline and supposed radio friendly chant a la the big hit of a few years ago.
thing is, it appears that josh (and i’m bloody shaking as i type this as we all know the man has a reputation !) has forgotten the tune on the way to the studio, as the result is a godforsaken mess of a track. thankfully, 3’s and 7’s is a lot better – so who knows, the album could put them back on the rock pile following the muted response to lullabies to paralyze.
