steinski – the motorcade sped on

on a cut-n-paste tip at the moment, so decided to post one of the greatest records of the genre ever made.
it was given away for free ! by the nme ! on proper hard-n-heavy black vinyl !
the track was never officially released due to the nature of its contents (you’ll see when you listen to it), but has appeared on many mixtapes over the years, so here’s a complete unedited version in full glorious 192.
i cannot understate how important this record was to me, being disconnected from the world in the mid-80s meant i was never on the ball enough to track down the previous steinski records, the infamous lessons trilogy, the originals are now gold dust for crate diggers, but these too have had their loops recycled so often over the last 25 years that they are now part of the very essence of hip hop culture.
so to actually get my hands on a proper genre defining track the day before my 19th birthday was one of the best presents i could have ever wished for.
essential listening.
