dempsey – odb on the run

being honest, i have struggled with my work based library today to the point of extreme sadness and despair.
one minute its all danced up electro, next 70s disco edits via some backpacker hip hop, nu-rave, and even an old tangerine dream 17 minute epic. yet so far, i have yet to have that oh yessss moment that’s essential during any extended listening period to maintain the passion. well, that was until i stumbled upon this 3 minute beauty about 30 minutes ago.
released on trevor jacksons output recordings label, but being completely different to everything else in the catalogue, it’s a proper catchy little song that incorporates a funky little acoustic guitar looped up backdrop, police sirens and a sunny manner that is the antithesis of the labels usual mood noir. in fact it’s not that far removed from the easy to love fatboy slim grooves when he knew how to make a party swing.
now, i will admit i have absolutely no idea who dempsey is, or whether the person behind the album from which this track is lifted (sunrise sunset) has made any other music, so if someone out there knows, then please drop me a line through the usual channels.
in the meantime, i urge you to scour the racks of your local fopp emporium, as the album has been trading for a mere £3, which cannot be ignored if you like a slice of old school screamadelica styled sunrise baggy moods via 70s laid back rock-n-roll, and want to have an album put a smile on your face.
