jamie t – pole

so there i am killing time in a local record shop.
not an independant of course as all those have been closed down due to lack of interest, but a chain.
the music being pumped out the pa system is a mish mash of uk-centric indie punk, spoken samples, reggae and brit-hop and not too bad if the truth be told, though a little cringe inducing.
a quick check over the playing now wall revealed this to be the new album by media loved up jamie t, yet all i could think was :
“thank god i didn’t chuck out all my big audio dynamite albums”
not that anyone else will make that connection as b.a.d  (or big audio dynamite 2, big audio etc) were never given any time nor love by the gatekeepers, but it wouldn’t surprise me if the young whippersnapper has a few records by said band hidden away, as the influence is very obvious.
also, in regards to the previous post.
i don’t normally do the image thing, as you should by now know, but look at that picture people – it’s gorgeous.
normally pole aka stefan betke has the most basic of cover art, his first 3 albums, 1,2,3 consisted of just a single primary colour and the word pole.
i suspect he has decided to go to the other extreme for the new album.
and speaking of the the album ?
well its pole, meaning the album is a rather stripped back combination of digital clicks and subsonic bass rumbles.
subsequently, ear plug listening in an machine filled office doesn’t do these quietly threatening tracks justice, but i can say that what did come out of the mini tinittus inducing inner ear dwelling beasts was very special.
more detail : here
stay tuned.
